It is the second time in less than two weeks that the Russian president has called a halt to fighting without committing to a long-term end to the war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin unilaterally declared a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8-11 for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and called on Kyiv to do the same,
