Fields on Jets’ passing game: ‘We’re fine with 8-yard completions’ and tiring defenses with runs
The New York Jets' passing game has been short on long passes this summer. Fans are anxious about whether Justin Fields and the offense can stretch the field this season.
The New York Jets held a secret practice on Sunday that was completely led by the players and didn't include any coaches or media, outside of head coach Aaron Glenn, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
QB Justin Fields and WR Garrett Wilson were in sync, combining on five completions, including a 10-yard touchdown pass on a slant, despite rainy conditions. Overall, it was a solid day for Fields, though he was picked off by CB Brandon Stephens on a pass intended for TE Mason Taylor.
Justin Fields and the New York Jets' passing offense struggled against the Giants. Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million deal to replace Aaron Rodgers, completed just one of five passes for 4 yards in the Jets' 31-12 preseason loss Saturday night.
The state of the Jets' passing offense has been a topic of conversation this week and quarterback Justin Fields got his chance to weigh in on it on Tuesday.
