A local nonprofit is mourning the loss of one of its founders Reverend Dr. Nelson Johnson. He was a Greensboro community leader and was also known as a civil rights activist who led the march targeted in the Greensboro Massacre.

Beloved Triad pastor Rev. Dr. Nelson Johnson has died. Originally from Halifax County, the North Carolina A&T alum is remembered for his efforts in the civil rights movement. Johnson was also a champion of social and economic justice during his time in Greensboro.
