As of 5 a.m., the center of Hurricane Erin was located about 450 miles east of Brevard County. Erin weakened slightly overnight but remains a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for North of the North Carolina/Virginia border to Chincoteague, Virginia & Bermuda.

Hurricane Erin fluctuated in intensity on Monday and expanded in size as people fled North Carolina's Outer Banks.
