A Batman #1 doesn’t come along very often. Well, unless you’ve been reading comics for the past 15 years, in which case, it’s come along a couple times already. Modern comic books! But even then, in what is about to be eight-and-a-half-decades of Batman that’s still not a lot of relaunches–and DC is going all-in to make this fourth one stand out.

DC Comics stunned attendees at the ComicsPRO convention with a surprise announcement. The state of the Batman monthly series following Hush 2 has been a total mystery. However, DC has now revealed that the series will relaunch with a new #1 issue.

The Big Two will collide in comics for the first time in over 20 years in the pages of Marvel/DC and DC/Marvel.

Jorge and I have a very superhero-forward kind of take on Batman,” Fraction said in DC’s news release. “We’ve got a new Batmobile, we’ve got a new costume, we’ve got new characters, and we’ve got a lot of old ones too —good and bad;
