Talk of annexation has Greenland in the news again. But due to quirks of cartography, some common maps show the territory much larger than it is.

President Donald Trump and his top aides’ preferred path to the U.S. taking ownership of Greenland is incentivizing people there to vote in a referendum to align with the United States, according to two people familiar with his thinking and granted anonymity to speak candidly.

Ambassadors appointed by President Trump talked about Greenland, military weapons and NATO at the Reagan library.

President Trump has not backed away from his demand for the U.S. to take control of Greenland. But in a new CNN poll, 75 percent of Americans say they don’t want to see that happen. Plus, one Republican Congressman says he’d ‘lean toward’ impeachment if Trump acted to seize the island.
