Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Florida and the U.S. Army have reached a new agreement to accelerate Everglades restoration through expediting the completion of the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir.

The agreement allows the South Florida Water Management District help with construction - but not take over - to finish the EAA Reservoir by 2029.

The governor's office said he would be joined by Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army D. Lee Forsgren, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Alexis Lambert.
