Attendees try to beat heat at Iowa State Fair

This year's Iowa State Fair attendance was the third-highest in history

A total of 1,160,121 people attended the Iowa State Fair, which took place from Aug. 7 to Aug. 17, 2025. The number fell short of last year's total attendance of 1,182,682 fairgoers, which broke the all-time record. Sunday, Aug. 17 was the lowest attended day of the fair, with only 89,680 visitors heading to the fairgrounds.

Iowa State Fair sees third-highest attendance, third-largest economic impact

This year’s Iowa State Fair had the third-largest real (2025 dollars) economic impact of any in the fair’s 171-year history, contributing $177 million to the state’s GDP and $92 million in personal income. This year fell short of 2024’s record year by $2 million, and 2023’s impact by $1 million in real GDP.
