José Ramírez became Cleveland’s leader in multihome run games with a drive to right field in the eighth inning as the Guardians defeated the Miami Marlins 4-3.

Tanner Bibee had a solid start. Yes, he gave up four runs, but no home runs and the Marlins had only a .127 expected batting average for the game. His curveball was especially excellent. Here are some highlights (if MLB Film Room works here, as I’ve been told it does):

Jakob Marsee is the seventh Marlins player to drive in seven runs in a game, the first since Adam Duvall on April 13, 2021.

Bender re-joins a Marlins bullpen that has been one of the best reliever cores in baseball over the last few weeks. Since July 1, Miami’s bullpen has a 3.70 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. Miami’s 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings have been the second-best in MLB over the stretch, only trailing the Tampa Bay Rays.

Gavin Williams struggled against the Marlins after throwing 8 1/3 no-hit innings against the Mets in his previous start.
