The Cubs defeated the Brewers in Game 1 of the doubleheader 6-4. Owen Caissie hit his first MLB home run and drove in three, and Willi Castro hit a three-run blast for his first Cubs homer. Daniel Palencia recorded his 17th save with a game-ending double play.

Chicago Cubs starter Cade Horton left Game 1 of Monday’s doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers in the third inning with a blister.

The sky has been falling for a while on the north side of Chicago. Fans are unhappy and, on occasion, booing in Wrigley Field. After all, the Cubs had a 6 ½-game lead in the NL Central after beating the Brewers on June 17, humming along with one of the best offenses in baseball.
