Nintendo is doing something the company has never done before: Next month, it will remove a retro game from its the Nintendo Switch Online’s classic catalog.

The Nintendo Switch Online service has removed its first retro game from its selection of SNES titles. While there are still hundreds of games to play on the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and Genesis libraries through Nintendo Switch Online, one specific game will be lost on March 28.

So far, Nintendo has revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to play most games from the previous generation along with Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games. That includes physical and digital Nintendo Switch 1 games. However, the video game giant explained that some games may not be compatible.

Nintendo Switch Online customers in Japan and South Korea will lose access to Super Formation Soccer on March 27th. This is a harsh reminder that subscriptions are not a replacement for ownership, and that legacy game publishers are not motivated by preservation.

Super Formation Soccer is being pulled from the service on March 28th, a Japanese Nintendo support account announced. The game, which seems to be owned by Spike Chunsoft and goes by Super Soccer in the US and Europe,
