Elon Musk's endorsement of Germany's far-right AfD party ahead of the snap elections has sparked controversy, with government officials accusing him of foreign interference.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said Elon Musk’s support for the far-right in Europe is “completely unacceptable”. The comments add to Mr Scholz’s previous criticism of the Tesla chief’s interventions in the German election campaign.
In response to the two posts shared on X, Elon Musk wrote, "Sag Nein zu Scholz!" which translates to "Say No to Scholz" in English.
Now Musk's escalating criticism and mocking of European leaders and governments, which he has done repeatedly via X, the social media platform he owns, has sparked a backlash from European governments amid increasing calls for regulatory action in Europe against X.
Musk earlier called Scholz an "incompetent fool" and signaled his support for Germany's anti-immigration AfD party.
