Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called for an immediate and urgent international response following the killings of southern Lebanese citizens, urging the international community to press Israel for the immediate withdrawal from Lebanese territories.

Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said that Sunday's bloodshed in southern Lebanon “is a clear and urgent call for the international community to act immediately.” Israeli forces in southern Lebanon on Sunday opened fire on protesters demanding their withdrawal in line with a ceasefire agreement,

Attacks come on the day Israeli troops were supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon and allow people to return home.

Hezbollah leader Sheikh Naim Qassem said Monday that Israel should withdraw from the occupied border areas in southern Lebanon, rejecting the extension of the cease-fire arrangements to Feb. 18.

Under the terms of the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire, Hezbollah agreed to pull back above the Litani River, which runs across south Lebanon, and Israel was supposed to pull all troops out of Lebanese territory over the 60-day period.
