Gavin Newsom says many structures ... best known as one-third of the folk-music group Peter, Paul and Mary, has died at age 86. Peter Yarrow died Tuesday at his home in New York.

In the new survey, no single person had a commanding hold on the Democratic Party. The top three cited were Jeffries (16%), Harris (15%) and "nobody," at 13%. Newsom was at 4%, AOC and Buttigieg at 2%.

It is the strongest response Newsom has made so far in the week since the fires first erupted in the Los Angeles area.

Gov. Gavin Newsom recently announced the appointments of two Bay Area residents, one to a state rail authority and the other to a state commission. Newsom named Peter Whippy, of Alamo, to Chief of External Affairs at the California High-Speed Rail Authority.
