Saints roster hopefuls Tyler Shough, Mason Tipton, and Isaiah Stalbird boost their stock despite loss to Chargers in preseason opener.

Rookie Tyler Shough is starting QB for the New Orleans Saints' preseason game against the Jaguars after a solid performance last weekend.

But Lance wasn’t the only runner to find success against the Saints’ run defense. Los Angeles ended the day with 148 rushing yards on 34 attempts, averaging 4.4 yards a carry. Running backs Raheim Sanders and Hassan Haskins each put up 42 and 33 yards, respectively, with Haskins averaging 5.5 yards a carry.

New Orleans lost a fumble, committed a critical defensive penalty and threw an interception in the first three quarters, leading to 17 points for the opportunistic Chargers in their second preseason game. And a run defense that the Saints desperately want to shore up allowed 148 yards and two touchdowns on 4.4 yards per carry.

The Los Angeles Chargers have secured a 27-13 win over the New Orleans Saints in a preseason game. Trey Lance scrambled for a 5-yard touchdown, and rookie Eric Rogers had two interceptions, including a 43-yard pick-6.

New Orleans Saints Coach Kellen Moore announced after the scrimmage Friday that Spencer Rattler will be the starting quarterback for the first preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
