Great Smoky Mountains National Park Superintendent Cassius Cash is leaving the park service to become the CEO and president of the Yosemite Conservancy in San Francisco. He will leave the park in mid-December and starts his new position in January, according to an email to park employees obtained by Knox News.

The U.S. Board of Geographic Names voted Wednesday to officially change the name of the highest peak in Great Smoky Mountains National Park back to its Cherokee name.
