US President Donald Trump has praised his “very good relationship” with Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who defeated an opponent seen by voters as too similar to the American leader in an election on Saturday.

"I don't know anything about the election other than the man that won, he's very good," Trump told reporters at the White House.
