Wichita Public Schools has declined to concede the race, its superintendent saying the district is waiting for every vote to be counted before deciding what to do next.

Unofficial results updated Wednesday by the Sedgwick County election office show bond issue opponents leading by just less than 300 votes, with potentially up to 4,000 mail and provisional ballots still to be counted.

USD 259 is in the unknown. District leaders are unsure of how to move forward without official election results. Regardless of the vote, Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld reaffirmed Wednesday morning that four elementary schools would close.
