The president’s pick for governor of Iowa lost his primary, while Democrats in the state chose their nominee in what they hope will be a competitive Senate race.

The president used a series of Truth Social posts to back more than 20 candidates in races across multiple states.

WASHINGTON — President Trump-backed Rep. Randy Feenstra conceded to businessman Zach Lahn in the Iowa GOP primary for governor, marking a rare endorsement defeat for the president in the primaries. Lahn barely edged out Feenstra (R-Iowa) in the contest to take on Democratic state auditor Rob Sand in the general election.

Come November, the Republican Party will need the support of voters outside of President Trump’s base, many of whom are deeply dissatisfied with the economy and the Iran war.
