ChatGPT can put words in front of other words, but it can't add meaning to them without intent.

Company CEO Sam Altman has revealed that OpenAI is currently training a new Large Language Model AI geared towards creative writing. On X, Altman shared his initial prompt and the AI’s resulting paragraphs of purple prose which he described as “good” (via TechCrunch ).

The move signals OpenAI's growing ambitions beyond improving accuracy and predictability. Last month, for example, OpenAI said its new ChatGPT-4.5 has improved emotional intelligence compared to previous models, with the ability to recognize patterns, draw connections and think more creatively, according to the company.

In a post on X on Tuesday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the company has trained a “new model” that’s “really good” at creative writing. He posted a lengthy sample from the model given the prompt “Please write a metafictional literary short story about AI and grief.”

So far, generative artificial intelligence models have been able to pull off only crude assimilations of fiction writing, but OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman today said his firm has trained a model for that particular purpose, and he claims it’s “really good.”
