Events are planned all across Ohio to celebrate 250 years since July 4, 1776, when the Founding Fathers declared independence from Great Britain.

This year marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, and today the Ohio Statehouse hosted the kickoff event—emceed by NBC4’s Colleen Marshall—for a year of America 250 celebrations.

"Operation Buckeye" ran from Dec. 16 - Dec. 21. Meanwhile, hundreds at the Ohio Statehouse on Thursday night protested the death of Renee Good, who was shot and killed by an ICE officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
