DC Police Chief Pamela Smith says so far there is no credible threat to the nation's capital ahead of the election.

Extra steps are being taken by local businesses out of an abundance of caution in the case violence breaks out following Election Day next week.

Over a dozen Board of Election buildings in Maryland received bomb threats on Friday night, leading to evacuations and sweeps state-wide. In an update on Monday, State Administrator of Elections Jared DeMarinis said the threat seems to have originated from overseas and that they are working with the FBI and other federal partners to investigate the threats.

Several local boards of elections received bomb threats, according Maryland State Elections Administrator Jared DeMarinis. DeMarinis said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that buildings were evacuated and that everyone is safe.
