TORONTO (AP) — A new Canadian-built bridge across the Detroit River that U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to block will open soon, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday.

A major milestone for the Gordie Howe International Bridge could come this week.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters the bridge is a "symbol of but also a fact of cooperation between our countries."

Prime Minister Mark Carney said it’s good news that the Gordie Howe Bridge between Windsor, Ont., and Detroit will get its official opening at the end of the week.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Gordie Howe International Bridge — the new span connecting Detroit to Windsor, Ontario — could quietly open this week.
