U.S. President Donald Trump's effort to curtail automatic birthright citizenship nationwide as part of his hardline immigration crackdown suffered another legal setback on Friday when a second federal appeals court declined to lift one of the court orders blocking the Republican's executive order.

A three-panel appeals court on Wednesday continued to block the Trump administration from ending birthright citizenship for children of immigrants, setting up a likely appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals declined Trump's request to suspend an injunction blocking his executive order to ban birthright citizenship.
