The Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation has spiraled from an intriguing four-way competition to an all-out injury crisis in a matter of days, forcing the team to make an emergency signing just to field enough healthy bodies for Friday’s preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers.

The Cleveland Browns are signing Tyler Huntley, a person close to the situation said Monday night. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the move has not been announced.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday the Browns are signing Tyler Huntley since Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel are dealing with hamstring injuries and Shedeur Sanders is working through a sore shoulder. "The Browns need another arm," Schefter wrote. "Enter Huntley."
