The Texas Lottery director said the same group that won the $95 million jackpot in 2023 likely was behind a more recent effort to win the Lotto again.

The Texas Lottery, one of the largest in the U.S., is facing mounting scrutiny from state leaders over how the winners of an $83 million jackpot this month and a $95 million prize in 2023 purchased their odds-defying tickets. Both are among the largest jackpots in the history of the Texas lottery.

On Thursday, the Texas Senate unanimously passed a bill to ban courier services from purchasing lottery tickets on behalf of customers. This legislation was prompted by a recent controversy surrounding an $83 million jackpot.
