It is the first deployment under an agreement that Google and Kairos signed last year to the launch the startup's nuclear technology at a commercial scale.

The Tennessee Valley Authority agreed to buy electricity from a small nuclear power plant that’s expected to go into service in 2030 and will help power data centers owned by Alphabet Inc.’s Google.

“The deployment of advanced nuclear reactors is essential to U.S. AI dominance and energy leadership," U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said in a statement announcing the site selection.
