On Sunday at 2 p.m. a coastal flood watch was issued by the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC valid from Tuesday noon until Friday 8 a.m. The watch is for East Carteret, Northern Outer Banks, Ocracoke Island and Hatteras Island.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will head to Ruidoso, New Mexico, to see and assess the flood damage with local officials on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Ruidoso faced flash flooding in July as heavy rain fell in the burn scar areas from last year’s South Fork and Salt fires.
