A Rhode Island special assistant attorney general who was arrested in Newport last week berated police over body camera footage while being trespassed.

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan and a friend had been asked to leave Clarke Cooke House in Newport when officers arrived, police video showed.

Police video shows a state prosecutor telling officers it is “protocol” for them to turn off the camera if “a citizen” asks them to do so. Experts say that’s not true.

The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office said its special assistant attorney general was arrested last week for trespassing in Newport.

After bodycam footage of Devon Hogan Flanagan’s arrest in Newport, Rhode Island went viral, the Attorney General is admonishing his prosecutor. On August 14, Flanagan had a strained interaction with the authorities, and could be seen repeatedly flashing her title as an “AG” to avoid getting arrested.

Devon Hogan Flanagan, a prosecutor with Rhode Island Attorney General's office, was arrested in Newport after refusing to leave a restaurant when asked by police. Caught on bodycam, she repeatedly identified herself as an attorney general and warned officers,

“It was after all, fast and furious,” attorney John Grasso told The Post of chaotic bodycam footage that showed his client, Veronica Hannan, and Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan cuffed by police for alleged trespassing at the Clarke Cooke House restaurant in Newport on Thursday.
