California Gov. Gavin Newsom is suing Trump in an attempt to block the deployment of federal troops in the city, which Newsom has called a “serious breach of state sovereignty.”

A federal judge heard California's challenge of President Trump's deployment of the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles to assist during protests and immigration raids. The administration argued troops have the right to be there to protect law enforcement.
