DUBAI (Reuters) -Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's crown prince and de facto leader, will not attend next week's Group of Seven summit in Canada, a senior diplomat briefed on plans told Reuters on Thursday. The crown prince, widely known as MBS, did not give a reason for declining Canada's invitation to the annual gathering, the diplomat said.

The G7 summit brings into focus how Canada and other countries in the decades-old alliance are hoping to build trade deals in new markets. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to visit Ottawa ahead of the summit to meet with Carney as the countries aim to become less reliant on the U.S. for trade and security ties.
